Teething/Feeding

I was getting Kaylah ready for bed and I bent down to kiss her and she decided to pull my glasses off. This has become a daily game for her.

Aunt Nikki feeding Kaylah. Kaylah just starting holding the bottle on her own.

I must say that the ExerSaucer is a lifesaver. Now that Kaylah is alert and looking to be entertained more, its more difficult to get things done, but this is most helpful. :)
This is Kaylah eating her foot as I tried to get her ready for bed. Yum!

So...Kaylah has her first tooth. We stumbled upon it quite by accident. She had a plastic toy in her mouth and Romie heard a little 'clink' sound. So she felt her gum and sure enough, we have a little bottom tooth. Explains her elevated fussiness. The funniest new development has been feeding Kaylah rice cereal. She either spits it out or blows bubbles on the spoon. We are currently on the hunt for a good highchair if anyone has suggestions. We have been feeding her in her Bumbo chair but her pudgy little legs won't allow that too much longer. :These are just some random pictures from the last month. None with the tooth showing though.

Love, love, love these! Kaylah may get my eyes after all!

Doctor's visit

Okay! So we may sound like over-protective/paranoid new parents but Kaylah got a bug bite of some sort on her arm on Sat. It was just big and red at first, but then yesterday it got full of pus and seemed a little more swollen. Today made the fifth day and it hadn't gone away yet. So we took her to the doctor today...only to have her tell us it was a regular insect bite. She said the rule of thumb is if you can rub it and the baby doesn't have any discomfort then its just an insect bite. But if you rub it and the baby reacts in pain, then its probably a more serious bite or sting like from a spider. Good to know. But we needed to be sure, right? So we also found out she weighs 16 lbs and 10 oz and is 25.5 inches long. She's agrowin! :)

McKaylah's Baptism

This is a short clip of McKaylah's baptism. She did really well through the whole thing until we had to lean her back and Father Dean poured the water on her head. She got a little fussy, but she was happy once that part was over. We missed all of you who couldn't attend.

Bath Time at the Hernandez House

Kaylah "kissing" her little rubber ducky. More like eating it's bill. Yum!

Her favorite bath time toy is now the red plastic cup we use to pour water on her.

Since Kaylah has starting teething, she puts everything in her mouth including but not limited to this red cup. She kept sucking on the rim so it looked like she was trying to drink from it. lol!

Kaylah usually ends her bath with an ear to ear grin which we were hoping to capture. However the moment she saw the camera she just stared. Great shot of those beautiful eyes though. :)

McKaylah's 4 month well check

Ok.  So we went to see the doctor for Kaylah's 4 month well check and shots.  She weighed in at a whole 14 lbs 8 oz and 24 inches long!  She's growing!  The hard part were the shots.  She cried and I cried.  It's so hard.  Anyways, we gave her Tylenol for the pain and she slept... a lot!  She was out from around 9:30pm until around 8am the next morning.  And she slept in her crib so I frequently kept getting up to make sure she was still covered up or laying on her back or breathing for that matter.  I'm still paranoid when she sleeps in her crib and I don't hear her for a long time.  The tough part was that next morning.  She felt warm so we took her temp and it was around 99.6.  And it just kept going higher and higher even though we gave her Tylenol every 4 hours as directed.  It finally hit 100.6 and we called the nurse at the doctor's office who gave us some instructions that helped.  We gave her some cool milk and kept her undressed.  We were about to give her a cool bath when her temp finally started to break.  Everyone says it's not a big deal until they hit 101 but it was her first and technically if you rounded up.... anyways... She's good and healthy and right on target for her age.  That's all we could ask for.  :)

Our First Family Vacation

Our first family vacation ever! McKaylah is 2 months old and we are at South Padre Island (Brownsville) at the Myer Condo. It is absolutely gorgeous but extremely windy!

Daddy and Kaylah at the beach on the last day.Matt had to chase a couple down to snap this photo. They were there from Germany and were really sweet. It was really really windy and the gentleman kept holding his hands over Kaylah's head until we found her a hat. He was really concerned about her. It was too cute!
The view of the island from our bedroom window.
The sunset as we drove over the bridge towards the main land. This picture just doesn't do it justice.

My Man!

I absolutely love this photo of Matt on our wedding day. It is exactly how I love him. Just the way he is.

Meet the cousins!

Here's a shot of Caden with Ellie and Kaylah in their matching dresses modeling outside.
Caden was asleep for this pic but we missed him. It was very early in the AM and Jonathan and Roland were about to leave for school.
This is one of my favorites. Ellie and Kaylah in their matching dresses.
Ellie was the perfect cousin while holding Kaylah very carefully for this picture.
This is a close up of Kaylah in the dress Aunt Emily bought her.
Einstein hair!

Our visit to Keller in April

These are pictures from our trip to Keller back in April to let McKaylah get acquainted w/ her cousins. From the doting family photos it's obvious that Kaylah is much loved. :)
April 21st-The 7th anniversary of our first date, Matt and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and got a little goofy. Aunt Emily and Uncle Michael watched McKaylah for a whole 3 hours alone!
Aunt Alex and Uncle Mark holding McKaylah. It was late so she's in her favorite pink and green froggy pj's. Too cute!
Awww! Uncle Michael and McKaylah
She has some major bedhead going on. Look at that Einstein hair!

Aunt Emily and McKaylah in the dress that she bought her.
There's that crazy hair again. lol!

The only picture of all 3 of us together so far.

Hello!

"Hi. My name is McKaylah and I am awake...sometimes."

Our Lucky Charm!

McKaylah's little beanie and outfit both have "Lucky Charm" embroidered on them. Its fitting. I like this photo of her in her beanie, striking a pose, and blowing bubbles.

Here's McKaylah in her St. Patty's Day outfit. Matt actually bought it for her a few months ago. Since she was supposed to be due in March he wanted to bring her home from the hospital in this. It obviously didn't work out that way which is just as well as it would have been too big. lol!

Feeling Froggy!

So, those of you who know me, know I'm a frog person. That being said I had to buy this pajama outfit for McKaylah. It's newborn sized but she just finally has grown into it. It's a cute pink one piece with little hopping frogs all over it and the feet are little frogs. She seemed to love it so I'm going to try to find some more with the feet. She's shown sleeping (as usual) here in her new Boppy vibrating bouncy chair. She loves it although it's a little too big for her.

Our first little girl's day out!

03/19/2008

Lindsey and I went out to lunch at Logan's Roadhouse and thankfully McKaylah slept thru the whole thing in her carrier. She still sleeps all day and is awake all night. I decided to take advantage of it and have a little outing. She was great!

Look at that smile! Lindsey was holding McKaylah when all of a sudden she just became all grins. I snapped the first photo and then a few minutes later she was grinning again and I got this second shot!
The outfit McKaylah is wearing here is a cute little newborn sized one piece that we bought to bring her home from the hospital in. However she was way too little for anything but newborn onesies. Now she's almost 4 weeks old and it is still too big on her! She's practically swimming in it! lol! This is the first outfit she's worn since she was born that isn't a onesie. In fact, she has just outgrown preemie diapers. She's not a preemie but newborn diapers were way too big! Our little one is starting to grow! :)

Anybody think to read the directions?

Why is it so difficult for men to read directions? I know it's an age old question that tends to stereotype men but it seems true for a few of the men in my life. Matt and Eric were putting McKaylah's crib together on Sunday, March 08, 2008, and they had to do, undo, and redo parts of it several times, all because they were solely looking at the pictures. Nikki and I kept asking them to read the directions and finally after painfully watching them try to figure some of it out, we had to step in and read the directions for them. It was funny! Especially when they still put it together wrong and they had to undo it after we had told them how to do it correctly. It was a lot of fun and both Matt and I were really happy that they were able to help us put it together. Here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure. Now the dresser does have a crack in it so we are waiting for the company to repair it.

I will post more pics when the room is done! :)

McKaylah's first tub bath!

March 11, 2008. McKaylah got her first tub bath since her umbilical cord fell off. Not too much of a surprise, she slept thru it for the most part. She whimpered a little when we had to sit her up to wash her back but other than that her beauty sleep went undisturbed. LOL! She sends her thanks to Aunt Emily, Uncle Michael, and her cousins for the cute pink tub. It was great and she was obviously comfortable.
